Internal Linking

Internal linking is the practice of connecting pages within a single domain so that crawlers can discover them and ranking authority flows between them, guided by descriptive anchor text.

On large sites, internal linking is the primary determinant of what gets indexed. A page reachable only from a sitemap is a page search engines will deprioritise.

Programmatic sites need an algorithmic linking layer (related entities, category hubs, comparison sets) because manual curation cannot cover tens of thousands of pages.
