Programmatic SEO

Also known as: pSEO

Programmatic SEO is the practice of generating many search-targeted pages from a structured dataset combined with page templates, so that each combination of entities produces a page addressing a specific query.

The approach works when the underlying data is genuinely useful and differentiated per page: salary bands by role and city, tool comparisons, city-level market data.

It fails when templates are populated with near-identical text, which search engines classify as doorway or thin content and increasingly exclude wholesale.

Successful implementations invest in data quality, internal linking, canonical discipline and sitemap architecture well before they invest in page volume.

Example

One role record and twelve city records generate twelve salary pages, each with distinct bands, cost-of-living context and local employers.
